Who is Navis Clinical Laboratories, and what should we know about you?

Navis Clinical Laboratories is focused on cutting-edge research and development to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of disease. We provide laboratory testing solutions, including toxicology, clinical blood, and molecular testing. This helps healthcare providers reduce suffering and save the lives of people with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, chronic pain, and other acute and chronic diseases, including HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), urinary tract infections (UTIs), respiratory infections, and antibiotic-resistant infections.

Navis launched in February of this year and currently owns three state-of-the-art laboratories located in New York, Washington, and Massachusetts, providing services nationally to healthcare practices. Although Navis is new, our laboratories have a long history of superior client service and clinical and operational excellence. Our New York laboratory was originally founded in 2008 as American Forensic Toxicology Services (AFTS) by Navis CEO and President Richard Stripp, Ph.D. The Washington laboratory began operating in 2003, and the Worcester laboratory was founded in 2010.

Our name is derived from the Latin word for “navigate,” and it represents our guiding principle—navigating our clients and patients through challenging times. The symbol in our logo evokes tools that have been used for centuries for direction and accuracy: the guiding light of the North Star and the compass.

What is unique about your business that makes you stand out?

We understand that a human being is behind everything we do, and their life is directly impacted by our services. Our primary focus is on developing solutions for clinicians who treat patients with substance use disorders. In addition to battling addiction, these patients often have other complex, often chronic, conditions that impact their health and recovery. They are already going through one of the hardest challenges of their lives, and navigating the healthcare system to find care that treats more than a single condition is often a treatment barrier. All patients deserve respect and equitable access to health care. We advocate for those patients by delivering services that empower healthcare providers to treat the whole patient, improve outcomes, and save lives.

What’s your biggest goal for your company this year?

We’re delighted to be in Nashville, the health services capital of the U.S., and to have the opportunity to bring business and jobs to the area. We have a very aggressive growth strategy, and this is just the beginning for us. We have a national footprint serving clients, and this move will help facilitate our evolution into a one-stop shop for our clients. It allows us to deliver services to patients who really need our help.
